What is today...? Oh yeah, I almost forgot; it is my birthday. Hi, my name is Mia, and this is the story of my crazy life. I am turning 14 today, and right now, I am wishing I wasn't. If you're wondering why, here's the reason: my parents just divorced, like today, at this very moment as I speak—I mean write, but you know what I mean. They want me to choose who to live with. Honestly, like every 14-year-old, all I can think about is how now I get everything double, so yeah, I'm kind of happy. But also, I feel like this is my fault. Because honestly, if it wasn't my fault, why have I been mentioned every single time they fought?

You might be wondering what I'm talking about, so here's a little background information. My parents met at ages 14 and 16, and my mom got pregnant at 17. My dad's parents wanted my mom and dad to get married after she gave birth to me. But after they got married, they were always fighting about everything, mainly about money or how my mom can't ever get any fresh air because he was always telling her what to do. The same topic ended up being about me. Yet, it still does until today, as they are completely divorced.

But let's not think about that right now. Let's think about the fact that they haven't even taken a minute or second to say "happy birthday." They don't always say it, but I would at least take it for the years I was told the next day.

Hey, today is the next day, so (July 15, 2021) today, like always, I get told "Happy Birthday." How exciting, but I wish I got it told on the correct day. But I have worse news. First, I have to choose between both my parents. Now that I have more information, if I go with my mom, we are going to Canada, and if I go with my dad, I go to Alaska. Wow, I can't believe it, but luckily I have one good thing: I get to stay for the first semester so I can at least have time with my friends.

Talking about friends, those are the ones I am going to leave behind after the first semester. So, keeping count of how many people I have to say goodbye to:

Hey, today is the next day so today like always I get told happy birthday how exciting, but I wish I got it told the correct day, but I have more bad news. I have to choose between my parents. If I go with my mom we are traveling to Canada. If I go with my dad we are traveling to Alaska. Wow, I can’t believe it.
